How long to get a VIN? +
The processing time to receive a Verified Identity Number (VIN) typically takes around 1 to 3 working days once the completed Form VIF has been submitted to the Companies Registration Office (CRO). However, this timeline may vary depending on the volume of applications and the completeness of the documentation provided. Once processed, the VIN will be emailed to you.
Can I use my VIN for multiple companies? +
Yes, once you receive your Verified Identity Number (VIN), it can be used for all future filings with the CRO across any Irish companies where you are appointed as a director. You do not need to apply for a separate VIN for each company.
Do I need to renew my VIN? +
No, the VIN is a permanent identifier that does not require renewal. Once issued, it remains valid for all future filings with the Companies Registration Office (CRO) without an expiration date.
Is there an alternative to getting a VIN? +
If you are eligible for a Personal Public Service (PPS) number, you may choose to apply for that instead of a VIN. However, for non-resident directors who do not require a PPS number for other reasons, obtaining a VIN is the fastest and most efficient solution for company compliance.
